Spring Garden Stakes

Today I am making Garden Stakes for my Spring Garden. These were very, very easy to make, but add some color to the garden.

In the video I am showing you galvanized metal, oval garden stakes but I do not have a link to them to purchase online. They can be purchased at your local Michaels Stores. I did link to similar garden stakes sold by Joann's made from wood.

Also, I linked below the pens I used in the video. I also made mention to the ribbon I purchased at the Michaels Store and used in the video were available for .99 per 25 yards. Unfortunately, these too are only available in their stores at .99 cents, the links below are sold online for $1.79.

Finished Garden Markers in my freshly planted garden.

Also, it rained last night and the titles still look great today. The ribbon dries quickly in the sunshine.

Travel Journal

Today I am creating a travel journal. Once the basic journal design is made, it can be used to make any type of journal you would like. Some great ideas would be a grandma brag book, Mother's Day gift, thank you gift for a coach, etc. You get the idea.

You will need:
  • 3 sheets of coordinating 12" x 12" cardstock.
  • Permanent adhesive
  • Stickers
  • Photos
  • Coordinating paper
To make the mini album:
  1. Cut the 12" x 12" cardstock at 6", you will end up with six sheets of 12" x 6" cardstock. Choose one cardstock design to make into the album cover.
  2. Trim 1/4" off of the remaining 12" x 6" sheets of cardstock so that you will now have five pieces of cardstock that measure 12" x 5-3/4".
  3. Now trim one of the 12" x 5-3/4" sheets of cardstock that match the cover to 5" x 5-3/4".
You should now have cardstock pieces:
  • One 12" x 6" (Cover base)
  • Three 12" x 5-3/4" (Inside Pages)
  • Two 5" x 5-3/4" (Cover extensions)
Score the 12" x 6" piece at 3" and 2-1/2" from each end of the cardstock.

Score the three 12" x 5-3/4" pieces at 3" from each end.

Using permanent adhesive, adhere the 3 scored and folded pieces of the inside pages (12" x 5-3/4") so that it will look like the photo below.

Here is a short video of the completed journal ready for photos and decorations

Congratulations Card

Welcome to Tuesday's with Terri! Today we are making a congratulations card using the Secret Garden postcard I colored on March 24, 2015.

I used Lawn Fawn's Penelope's Blossoms stamps to create the sentiment "congratulations" on the front. Then cut it out using the matching Lawn Fawn dies.

Attached a peach ribbon to the side of the trimmed postcard and tied a bow and secured the tails to the front of the card using glue dots.

While this card was fairly simple to make once the postcard was colored, it's bright and sunny, perfect for spring graduations, communions, or engagements.

To see how I created this card, please see my YouTube video below.

Please join me again next Tuesday for paper crafts. Have a great week!

Coffee Cozies and Matching Gift Tags

Today I would like to share with you a coffee cup cozy and gift tag. These are perfect for  upcoming holidays and such as Secret Santa gifts, stocking stuffers or a little something that could be added to a coffee gift basket.

I made the tag by using the Stamps of Life Coffee Cup Dies by cutting out the lid by lining up the green paper along the top of the die, then stamping it with Stamps of Life matching Coffee4Two cup stamp by only inking the top of the stamp in  I then cut out a full Coffee Cup Die using craft card stock. I then used the "Love You A Latte" Stamps from Lawn Fawn to stamp the sentiment 'for you" using VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad and heat emossed it with white embossing powder. I then stamped the "to and from" using Birthday Tags from Simon Says Stamp.

The coffee cozy was made using Paper Tray Ink's Coffee Cozy Dies and Coffee Cozy Details. I first cut out the coffee cozy, the tree detail die and then the tree hole punch die directly onto the coffee cozy. By doing this, it allows me to sew through the felt material using a  This allows me to attach the tree cut out directly to the front of the cozy.  stitched it together using dark brown embroidery floss using a running stitch. Before finishing up the right side, I included in the tree tag in the seam before sewing it up.

Copic Markers for Card Makers - Day 7

Today we learned how to work with difficult colors such as black and white. The reason these colors are difficult to use is because they are either under saturated or over saturated with color and difficult to give dimension to.

The first image we colored was a flower. I used red, which was the second example in the lesson. I didn't have the colors to create a white flower. Once I obtain them, I am going to give it a try and I will post them here. Because the two colors of red were so far apart on the color spectrum, I decided to blend them together on an acrylic block to get a happy medium.

The second image we colored was this cute little Robot Vampire. Isn't this just something that a child would want to be for Halloween? Sometimes it's too difficult to choose between two, so lets do both!

This photo shows how we were able to use shades of black/gray to give more dimension to the image.  It also taught us how the use of different grays will look like completely different colors by using a warm gray next to a cool gray.
